Asian Music Review | Asian voices matter
Relatable and empowering!

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
Welcome to Asian Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
I am Lance Abellon, a spoken word artist and writer from the Philippines. I have been performing spoken word / performance poetry since 2017.
My mission is to inspire the audiences through words and build sympathy and empathy to those who are broken, wounded, and bruised.
Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?
Released on July 15, 2023. The poem “Yugto” (included in my recent EP release, “Dasig“) talks about us having different “yugto” or “seasons” in our lives. I tried to relate different types of weather to our personal experiences.

What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
Though we encounter different seasons in our lives, life is still beautiful.
What is your favorite part of this body of work?
The writing process.
What’s next on your journey?
I have a regular segment for my spoken poetry every Monday at Dr. Love Radio Show, aired via FB on 92.3 Radyo 5, True FM) at 11 pm.
On August 19, I’ll be performing for the LAYA PH event at Cityboy Brew in Marikina City for “Don’t English Me, I’m Panic: Tulaan at Awitan.”
