Welcome to Asian Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
Mark Anthony Cuevas is an independent songwriter who enjoys sharing original works for the church, themed events, and various activities. Most of my songs are religious and inspirational in nature.
Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?
Released on May 24, 2023. The “Summer After Valentine’s Day” is part of the EP album entitled “Ecstatic” under Waswabe Records. It includes four original songs, a true labor of love by my fellow songwriters hoping to inspire everyone during the summer season. It is now available in all major digital streaming platforms.
This song was interpreted by Daryl Reyes and with the special participation of Archie Salvador on lead guitars.
My inspiration? Peer pressure! 🙂 My co-songwriters at Waswabe Records group “encouraged” or rather forced me a lot in writing my first ever love song. It was a fun and unique experience because I get to try something outside of my comfort zone. I hope my friends and audience will like this song as much as I enjoyed writing it.
What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
Never be afraid to try something new. This is my first ever love song and it’s outside my comfort zone to be honest.
However, I realized that with the help of supportive friends, there’s a lot of possibilities. Most importantly, have fun in trying out new things… it brings out the best of your creative mindset.
What is your favorite part of this body of work?
Most of my friends who already listened to the song said that the Chorus was their favorite part and I totally agree with them. I also had a Last Song Syndrome (LSS) in that part while I was writing it.
My song “The Summer After Valentine’s Day” is a simple feel-good love song. It imparts a message highlighting the importance of the being with your special someone passionately on a daily experience. This is the real magic of developing a lasting and meaningful relationship.
What’s next on your journey?
I have a special surprise for all of you! There is a special bonus track featuring another talented artist namely, Aneka Abarrientos interpreting the same song with a different style of arrangement. This will be shared exclusively on my YT channel and FB Page.
