EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Welcome to Asian Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

I’m Humprey, an 18-year-old musician from the Philippines. I release my music independently. I also write, compose, mix and master all my songs. Most of my songs talk about my love experiences.

It’s fun sharing these, knowing someone can also relate to them. I’m proud of my songs, especially with my lyrics. The meaning behind every song is worth sharing with the world.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?

Released on March 17, 2023. The song was inspired musically by ‘The 1975’, the 80s-sounding synth pop–perfect for chilling, late-night walks, late-night drives, or road trips.

Lyrically, “Tell” is inspired by couples entering the next stage of their relationship of meeting with the parents. This song highlights the experience when you need to prove to them that you deserve the love of their daughter/son.

What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

I am confident that “Tell” will have a great chance to get played in restaurants, bars, and cafes, especially at night.

Listeners will appreciate that it’s normal to get nervous meeting your partner’s parents. People can relate to this experience. I hope they will remember and sing along with this song whenever they feel nervous.

What is your favorite part of this body of work?

Musically, I love the groove on the Pre-Chorus part and also the overall vibe. There’s something about it that is very chill—perfect for late-night vibing. Lyrically, I love the melody of the Chorus. It is very catchy.

What’s next on your journey?

Stay tuned for my upcoming live performances. I’ll include this song for sure! Follow me on my socials for more updates.
